Newt’s version of his first divorce might not be accurate

Mitt Romney’s oppo team is clearly hard at work this week.

From CNN:

Newt Gingrich filed a divorce complaint on July 14, 1980, in Carroll County, saying that “the marriage of the parties is irretriebably (sic) broken.”

CNN Red Chair Interview: Newt Gingrich Gingrich and Perry fail to make Virginia ballot Iowa GOP race tightening Navarette: Is Gingrich’s fidelity pledge enough?

Jackie Battley Gingrich, the congressman’s wife and the mother of Jackie Gingrich Cushman, responded by asking the judge to reject her husband’s filing.

Serious question: does anyone care anymore? I’m including the GOP base in Iowa. The fact that Newt is a serial adulterer on wife #3 is beyond old news. Will hitting voters over the head with recycled information have a meaningful impact? I just don’t see it being a make or break issue for Newt.
