Stephen Colbert to “run for President” in South Carolina

So this just happened.

BASIC CABLE, USA – Americans For A Better Tomorrow, Tomorrow, an FEC registered Super PAC, today announced the addition of Jon Stewart to its executive board (along with the subtraction of Stephen Colbert).

With this change the group, which had been known colloquially as Colbert Super PAC, can now be referred to as The Definitely Not Coordinating With Stephen Colbert Super PAC. They have already begun updating all of their letterhead with sharpie.

I’ve long been a fan of Stephen Colbert’s Super PAC. It’s only because of Colbert that most Americans have any idea of what a Super PAC even is, and their potential effect on our political process. I’m hopeful that his “run” in South Carolina will further highlight how out of control our current campaign finance system actually is.

And it’s not like Colbert can be accused of making a mockery of the Republican primary. The actual candidates are doing a bang up job of that already.

Poor Jon Huntsman though. He’s behind fictional candidate Colbert in the latest PPP poll.
