A GOP Congress? Let’s not do the Time Warp again (video)

I’ve been having far too much fun with a new (?) service JibJab has, whereby you can insert anyone’s face into a ready-to-watch music video.

WAY too much fun.

So here are a few I made, below, regarding getting out the vote in November.

As you know, the congressional elections are coming up on November 4. And while the Democrats may not always be all that, they’re far better than these jokers, any day.

A Republican Senate will destroy Obamacare, which, again, wasn’t exactly what we wanted, but it was a heck of a lot better than what the GOP Congress is going to give us.

As for gay rights, in fact the Democrats have been all that and more. It took some work on all of our part, but we got sexual orientation added to the Hate Crimes law, we got “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” repealed, and we got the administration to stop defending the Defense of Marriage Act. At the same time, Obama judges on the Supreme Court gave us the margin for victory that we needed to strike down DOMA, which has led to a flood of pro-gay-marriage decisions in courts nationwide. If you’re gay, or care about gay rights, the Democrats in Congress and President Obama came through for us. And now it’s time for us to come through for them.

So, yeah, I’m going to vote Democratic on November 4. Our country paid a dear price the last time we gave Republicans control of the Congress (George Bush’s rubber-stamp lemmings come to mind). Let’s not do the Time Warp again.

Here are the videos, if you like them, please share them. Thanks, JOHN

In case it wasn’t obvious, the players in the House video are Paul Ryan, John Boehner, Michele Bachmann (soon to be gone, but never forgotten), Aaron Schock, and directing the happy lemmings, David H. Koch (of the Koch Brothers). You can share the House version with friends via this page.

Senate Version:

As for the Senate, in order of appearance: John McCain, Mitch McConnell, Marco Rubio, Lindsey Graham, and their ringmaster, Ted Cruz. You can share the Senate version with friends via this page.

And here’s a fun third version, apropos of nothing:

And finally, appearing in this video are Aaron Schock, Larry Craig, Rick Perry, Lindsey Graham, and Marcus Bachmman (beloved husband of Michele). You can share the apropos-of-nothing version with friends here.

Here’s one more that I liked. It might even be my favorite. (You can share it here.)

Maybe the dems will learned from their masters. Afterall, the rules were changed so Obama could get some judicial appointments through. Filibusters are usually unpopular and carry a political penalty…just not this november–there is a problem!

Any Dem can filibuster a bill not just Harry Reid… Those posters below who are going with your Reid meme know better but just can’t pass up the opportunity to be snarky…

Point well taken. Perhaps this is why my mother in law says I’m a “Bufos”.

Did I ever mention that I’m a Cubs fan?

  6. You seem to have a very lofty impression of the Democrats’ backbone and cohesiveness. I remember many of the “expected” filibusters back in the early 2000s that never-ever came to fruition. The Supreme Court nominees come to mind. As does the infamous Bush tax cuts, proposed at $1.6 trillion, so Democratic Senate Leader Tom Daschle bravely responded with his own $1.3 trilliion proposal. That showed them!

  7. “This time” Dems are finally going to grow a back bone? You’re adorable :)

  8. Demosthenes says:

Please see my recent response to Mr. Aravosis.

  9. Demosthenes says:

The question is, assuming arguendo that the GOP takes control of the Senate, that the personal animus between Sens. Reid & McConnell incents Sen. Reid to pay back Sen. McConnell with a similar level of obstruction.

  10. Naja pallida says:

It may take only a single Republican to effectively kill any legislation at all in the Senate, but it never works the other way around. Even Bernie Sanders never stands up for what he claims to believe in when it comes to holding up bad legislation, I wouldn’t expect Harry Reid to do anything but whine.

  11. BeccaM says:

True. But do you remember how ‘bipartisan’ the Dems always are whenever the GOP is in the majority?

  12. Demosthenes says:

That would require a lot of Democrats to support it in both houses of Congress, right?

  13. Assuming the GOP Senate doesn’t override the veto.

  14. Yeah, I remember the last time we “knew” the Dems would filibuster bad things in the Senate. It rarely happened. Rs filubuster, Dems not so much.

  15. Demosthenes says:

Then Pres. Obama would veto the bill.

  16. BeccaM says:

I know. I had a major sad to see RHPS used in such a blasphemous way.

Back in college, I used to go to the local midnight showings dressed as Magenta. Even got to do the stage show part a couple times. :-(

  17. nicho says:

Sen. Reid will be able to filibuster any GOP legislation, so any repeal dies.

There were a lot of things Sen. Reid could have done, but didn’t. Don’t count on him for this. Lobbyists and health care organization were #3 and #4 on his top contributors.

  18. Demosthenes says:

While this was most amusing, I strongly disagree that a GOP Senate “will destroy ObamaCare”. How exactly? Assume the GOP gets a narrow majority . Sen. Reid will be able to filibuster any GOP legislation, so any repeal dies. Even if the Republicans eliminate the filibuster for legislation, Pres. Obama would veto a bill repealing his most important legislative achievement. A veto override would fail.

  19. HereinDC says:

Thanks John, I’ll NEVER be able to look at Lindsey Granham with out a chuckle.

    Senate version is my fav!

  23. heimaey says:

Yeah but they won’t get much done and if they lose their new excuse will be the GOP has a majority instead of they won’t cooperate.

  24. Bill_Perdue says:

Who ever wins, the left will oppose them, fight for a decent minimum wage and continue to organize unions.
