Paul Ryan’s opponent: We need to discuss deporting every Muslim-American

House Speaker Paul Ryan’s primary opponent, Paul Nehlen, suggested in a radio interview this week that he would consider deporting every Muslim in America.

Nehlen made the inflammatory comments in an interview with Wisconsin’s AM560 show, “The Morning Answer.”

Even the hosts of the show, who were clearly sympathetic, thought that Nehlen had crossed the line.

Nehlen made news recently when Donald Trump praised him, and then refused to endorse Paul Ryan in the race.

Nehlen started the radio interview by talking about the Khan family, who made headlines last week at the Democratic Convention.

[The Khans] came here in the ’70s from Pakistan, right? [Humayun Khan] died before the Fort Hood shootings, the Boston Marathon bombings, the Chattanooga killings, San Bernardino Christmas party mass shooting and the Orlando nightclub.

So circumstances have clearly, dramatically changed since Capt. Khan’s death and hey, those are Gold Star parents. Nobody’s saying they aren’t Gold Star parents; they lost their kid.

That’s when things got interesting:

But let’s be clear, Muslims-Americans have been fighting on both sides of the war. In fact, more Muslim-americans, 20, have been killed since 9/11 fighting for ISIS than have been killed fighting for America, 14. Since 9/11, the number of Muslim-Americans who have been killed in action fighting for the US is the same as the number of American soldiers who have been killed by fellow Muslim-American soldiers….

Since 9/11 the number of Muslim-Americans who have been killed fighting for terrorist organizations in Syria, Iraq, Somalia, Yemen and Pakistan is almost three times the number of Muslim-Americans who have been killed in action in the US….

Polls have put the numbers of American Muslims who believe they should have a choice between US law and Sharia at over the 50 percent mark.

Not so much. The “poll” — not “polls” — was done by a former Reagan administration conservative defense hawk, Frank Gaffney, who has been running a pro-defense outfit for a few decades now. When I worked on arms control issues for a Republican senator back in the early 1990s, Gaffney’s work was considered a bit out there, to say the least (and we were fellow Republicans). Oh, and the “poll” was an opt-in online poll. Politifact ripped it to shreds.

Then host then asked Nehlen if he was proposing a religious test for Americans, whereby any Americans who embraced Sharia law would be kicked out. Nehlen said yes, “I support that.”

Nehlen continued:

The break point is Sharia. If the Muslim is Sharia compliant, that is in direct conflict with the US Constitution. And Islam is the only major religion that encourages lying.

If they lie, how do you vet something like that?

The question is, why do we have Muslims in the country? How can you possibly vet somebody who lies?

The host then asked:

Are you suggesting that we deport all of the Muslims in the country?

And Nehlen responded:

I’m suggesting we have a discussion about it, that’s for sure.

Nehlen later tried to claim he didn’t suggest that he’d be willing to deport every American Muslim — the host seemed unconvinced.

Nehlen continued:

We should be monitoring every mosque…. If somebody supports Sharia, that is doing something wrong .

The host then asked whether that wasn’t taking us down the path of punishing “thought crimes.” Nehlen response “yes.” The host continued, “you’re talking about deporting people for thought crimes.” Nehlen continued: “I don’t know the answer to this, I struggle with this, I really do.”

And when other nations refuse to take these expelled American citizens, what then? Concentration camps, followed by mass extermination?

Just when I think I’ve seen the extent to which evil can go, someone like this fascist comes along…

I for one think it would be hysterical if Paul Ryan wound up losing to this clown. Think what that would do to the GOP. Unfortunately, the Tea Party season has come and is on the way out.

He is far from the only one who thinks this kind of nonsense. But aren’t they skipping a step ? They are forgetting that first comes the internment camp then the deportation. Can anyone say , ” Warsaw ghetto.”
