Sarah Palin calls Trump’s Carrier deal “socialism

Sarah Palin, who is reportedly up for the job of Secretary of Veterans Affairs in the incoming Trump administration, took to the Web today to criticize Trump’s deal with Carrier to keep 1,000 or so jobs in the US while moving another 1,300 or so to Mexico.

Palin called Trump’s deal “socialism” and “crony capitalism.”

Yeah, she really did.

Palin starts by saying she’s glad to hear some jobs were saved.

I am ecstatic for Carrier employees! Their bosses just decided to keep shop onshore. What a relief for hundreds of workers. Merry Christmas Indiana!

But Brutus is an honorable man, and Palin goes all in on criticizing the deal:

When government steps in arbitrarily with individual subsidies, favoring one business over others, it sets inconsistent, unfair, illogical precedent. Meanwhile, the invisible hand that best orchestrates a free people’s free enterprise system gets amputated. Then, special interests creep in and manipulate markets. Republicans oppose this, remember? Instead, we support competition on a level playing field, remember? Because we know special interest crony capitalism is one big fail.

Politicians picking and choosing recipients of corporate welfare is railed against by fiscal conservatives, for it’s a hallmark of corruption. And socialism.

Palin continues, under the false impression that Trump is a Reaganite:

Reaganites learned it is POLICY change that changes economic trajectory. Reagan’s successes were built on establishing a fiscal framework that invigorated our entire economy, revitalized growth and investment while decreasing spending, tax rates, over-reaching regulations, unemployment, and favoritism via individual subsidies. We need Reaganites in the new Administration.

However well meaning, burdensome federal government imposition is never the solution. Never. Not in our homes, not in our schools, not in churches, not in businesses.

Gotta’ have faith the Trump team knows all this.

In fact, one of Trump’s economic adviser went to Capital Hill last week and told House Republicans that the GOP was no longer the party of Reagan — it’s now the party of Trump.

Moore surprised some of the Republican lawmakers assembled at their closed-door whip meeting last Tuesday when he told them they should no longer think of themselves as belonging to the conservative party of Ronald Reagan.

They now belong to Trump’s populist working-class party, he said.
A source briefed on the House GOP whip meeting — which Moore attended as a guest of Majority Whip Steve Scalise — said several lawmakers told him they were taken aback by the economist’s comments.

So don’t expect Trump to be trumpeting old Ronnie any time soon. Reagan is dead, and Trump just put a stake through him. And for anyone who still doubts this, do you think Ronald Reagan would have welcomed Russia’s help in throwing our election?

Socialism. It is nothing of the kind. Socialism is a fair distribution of benefits throughout society to all who qualify by virtue of being a citizen. In her view, Medicare is socialism. And it has a greater claim to socialism than to anything done with Carrier in Indiana. That is just classic pork barrel, tax giveaway stuff. This is a one time tax give away to a company to, at least for now or until the tax subsidy is used up, agree to leave some jobs here while shipping more jobs to Mexico. The Trump Monster is now claiming, ala his Bernie Sanders impersonation, that he will impose a 35% tax on any company shipping jobs abroad. To which Mike Pence, the soon to be Acting President, has stated that it would be more on a “case-by case” basis than any provision actually enacted into the United States tax code. So, there you go. There is the “policy”. Make a big stink and trump will show up and offer the company a tax subsidy to keep a few jobs here.

Sure. I’ll keep telling myself that. Again.

Why is it that when election results are iffy, it is always Republicans that benefit?

I’ll keep muttering about this when the wars get declared. I’ll keep muttering while the oceans turn to plastic and the rainforests are cut down. I’ll keep muttering when the nukes start to fly.

Actually, I think she was just told she isn’t getting a spot, and she’s lashing out.

Brainwashed by simple verifiable facts? Oh no!

And the primary was not rigged. People voted. She won.

No one surrounding Trump makes a coherent statement; they plagiarize or cut and paste.

I guess the half term quitting Governor isn’t getting a cabinet position now. She’s right, though.

UM, she won the popular vote. And many RED states are likely to have gummed up the voting process for the Electoral College. Think on that.

I often need a shower after watching Sarah Palin on TV, or at least, a change of underwear.

  18. Demosthenes says:

The Carrier deal is quintessential crony capitalism. Sarah Palin is correct. This must mean the Donald rejected her for a cabinet post.

  19. I don’t know where she “cut and pasted” (the three syllable words, and that no “g’s” were missin’ and that its decipherable at all – much less coherent – gives it away that she didn’t write it) that article from – but it’s true.

  20. Badgerite says:

    Yeah. Here we are.

  21. quax says:

My point was that Palin ever saying anything that sounds sensible, is about as likely as ending up with Trump as president. Yet here we are.

    Through the lucking glass.

  22. emjayay says:

Except she did by 2,600,000 votes, a margin of 1.9%.

  23. Badgerite says:

Palin doesn’t make sense. The unemployment rate is at 4.6 percent and 3.9 is considered full employment. At the start of 2008 the rate was something like 8 percent and climbing.
Those jobs will stay for now but I wouldn’t look to that being a long term trend or anything.
And global warming is real and will have consequences far beyond anything having to do with Carrier Air Conditioning. So, overall her statement is boiler plate GOP bullshit.
And the GOP is pretending a “populism” that is phony. As per usual.

  24. Pollos Hermanos says:

    OMG she’s right. I need a shower.

  25. quax says:

Trump is president and Palin makes sense. What else is there to say …

  26. Mass Independent says:

” And for anyone who still doubts this, do you think Ronald Reagan would have welcomed Russia’s help in throwing our election?”

Do you have any proof (other than the USG lies) that Russia was involved in hacking the election? I’d bet everything I have that the Democrats and Repubs hacked it more than the Russians ever could, or would want to. You Dems, whining bed wetters that you are and will be for, what 4 to 8 years or more, are just making excuses for your candidate Clinton, who was a disastrous candidate, who rigged the primary, but could not rig the country.

It was obvious to everyone but brain washed Dem partisans that Hillary Clinton was the worst candidate with the most resources, the MSM media, billions of dollars, all the NY Times scribblers except Dowd, and a rigged primary, and STILL COULD NOT WIN.
