Giuliani: Trump supporters would cheer Trump’s call to assassinate Hillary

In perhaps the worst attempt ever at damage control, Donald Trump surrogate Rudy Giuliani attempted to defend Trump’s call yesterday for Hillary Clinton to be assassinated.

Giuliani told ABC’s “Good Morning America” that had Trump actually called for Hillary to be assassinated, the crowd would have gone wild.

Wait, what?

Here’s a short clip of the longer ABC interview:

Here’s the key Giuliani quote:

“You know how speeches go. He was talking about how they [gun rights advocates] have the power to keep her out of office. That’s what he was talking about,” he added. “With a crowd like that, if that’s what they thought he’d meant, they’d have gone wild.”

In other words, Giuliani says Trump supporters would love for Trump to call for Hillary’s death.

With a crowd like that, the Secret Service is going to be awfully busy.

Which also calls into question whether a crowd like that should ever be able to own a gun.

Best sobriquets I’ve read so far…. Giuliani: Mr Magoo playing Mussolini Trump: idiot vivant

  2. DoverBill says:

    Yo dumb fuck,

    They already have!

  3. ComradeRutherford says:

“…had Trump actually called for Hillary to be assassinated, the crowd would have gone wild.”

    So it’s OK!

51% of Americans voted to execute the other 49%! The killing will commence the moment President Trump is sworn in.

  4. conservative_fight_back says:

What a scumbag Giuliani is. The lowest of the low. He should be prosecuted.

  5. reylaces says:

And? Any other pearls of wisdom. Like turning NYC finances around, so the current a$$hole can smoke weed and let the city rot.

I’d like you to find Ted Cruz and suggest Kasich replace Trump to his face.

  8. Colin says:

of course. And once again it worked

  9. BeccaM says:

I know. And we also know who has a reputation for constant compulsive bald-faced lying.

It ain’t CNN or the Secret Service.

  10. emjayay says:

One of the many propaganda tools Bush II used to get us into his war. Sadam = Hitler. Saddam in cahoots with Al Queda = terrorists = 9/11..

  11. emjayay says:

But Trump’s campaign says no they did not never…..

  12. heimaey says:

That’s why HRC was such a bad/risky choice because both her and Trump are unliked quite a bit. If someone like Kasich steps in, even at the last minute, it’s over for the Dems.

  13. BeccaM says:

This in from CNN’s national security correspondent:

  14. BeccaM says:

And as someone else I read yesterday noted: What do ‘Second Amendment enthusiasts’ bring to a situation that other groups don’t? Guns, and threats to use them if their demands aren’t met.

  15. BeccaM says:

…who, along with all the other GOP bomb-throwers, are clearly inciting violence, mayhem, and murder.

  16. BeccaM says:

I wrote this yesterday on JMG:

“Just Kidding” is a very specific way of normalizing horrifically awful ideas within a particular target group. In this case, Trump’s audience, wherein he pretty clearly wants them to rid him of a troublesome political opponent and/or her judicial appointees.

Let’s say someone says something horribly racist in front of a group of people. Most are horrified, but a few nod. The racist says “just kidding” as a way to make the horrified people stop listening, but he knows full well he just made common cause with the nodders.

Trump is making common cause and suggesting/implying that he’s okay with the notion of FIREARMS being used to eliminate those people he doesn’t like or approve of. Someone who uses the language of “2nd Amendment solutions” isn’t fucking around. They are suggesting there are people who ought to be shot and killed, even if they don’t get around to naming them specifically.
Well, Trump did name someone. Former Secretary and Senator Hillary Clinton. And he suggested this would also apply to any of her judicial nominees, from SCOTUS on down.

If you still think this should be dismissed as “just joking,” you’re not taking it anywhere seriously enough. Trump isn’t one’s drunken racist, misogynistic wingnut uncle. The man is the GOP’s nominee for President.

And this is what prompted it:

  18. emjayay says:

One staff spinner after another and then one Republican apologist after another has interpreted Trump’s words to mean something other than what every single person at the event thought he meant. Republican politicians are lying for the party – they are worried about a wholesale voter defection from all Republicans, like for instance them. Guiliani is just an increasingly reactionary crank.

  19. emjayay says:

  20. BeccaM says:

So Giuliani is admitting Trump supporters include would-be assassins. Or, at the very least, those who would be fine with our presidential candidates being murdered and would cheer it. And so is he.

This is the same ghoul who shrieked a constant litany of “9/11 and terrorism” at the RNC crowds.

The ethical and moral bankruptcy of the Republican party is complete.

  21. heimaey says:

If you call singling out minorities for minor offenses “enforcement of laws” then yes, I guess. Bloomberg made the city a place for the rich to park their money in empty towers. Got no love for either.

  22. Buford2k11 says:

    Our saving grace….

  23. Colin says:

    As then , same now.

  24. emjayay says:

Well, you see, besides being a somewhat apt comparison (strongman demagogic leaders, unfettered by regulation corporations, economy biased entirely for the wealthy, to mention a few examples), Banana Republican has a joke in there (see how similar Banana Republic, the usual construction, is similar to Banana Republican, the writer’s invention?), while Banana Democratic does not.

  25. emjayay says:

  26. reylaces says:

Banana republic? What do u call the DNC?

  27. reylaces says:

How did they destroy it? Enforcement of laws

  28. Colin says:

You could very well be right my friend. But what worries me is the thought of someone that the tribe can get behind out of relief if nothing else. LOL

  29. goulo says:

I suppose that in the unlikely case some other Republican replaces Trump as the candidate, a large proportion of Trump fans would refuse to vote for Trump’s “conventional establishment elitist” replacement. (Unless it was some other batshit crazy guy like Ted Nugent or something, but that would defeat the whole point of them replacing Trump with someone less crazy.)

  30. heimaey says:

I’d be happy if I never had to hear Giuliani or Bloomberg (two assholes who destroyed NYC) speak again.

  31. Colin says:

It still worries me that the repubes are going to talk Trump into leaving and a ” savior ” will come along to fire up the base and take the election.

  32. Buford2k11 says:

we are seeing the Banana Republican Party who seems to be following the Manafort/Putin playbook…this is just the beginning…

  33. Badgerite says:

This is a prime example of the sickness in the GOP that the party has not only tolerated but encouraged for decades. Lincoln would have left this ‘party’ long ago.

  34. Colin says:

Shades of Sharon Angle’s “2nd amendment solutions.” This sort of talk is not new and both Angle and Trump know very well that some neo Nazi goose stepping moron out there just might answer the call.

  35. Don Chandler says:

    ‘Enfant Terrible’
–a person whose unconventional or controversial behavior or ideas shock, embarrass, or annoy others.

Maybe add shockingly irresponsible when describing an ‘Enfant Trump’.

Giuliani is a political hack. He couldn’t help but bring up the father of the Orlando shooting during that interview–lot of misdirection and obfuscation.

  36. Colin says:

Giuliani will simply say that what he meant was that if Trump called for the gun nuts to organize against Mrs. Clinton then the crowd would have gone wild. And the Dems will just say darn we lost another point. Shucks.

  37. Sally says:

Well, because we Hillary voters are going to figure out how to vote 15 times each, fifteen, someone said that. I read it online so it’s true. We are all losers and cheaters, he says. But we secretly LOVE Donnie. He’s a uniter. The Dems divided the nation, and now St. Donnie will ride to the rescue on Anne Romney’s steed, hiding two AK-47s in each hand! And Ivanka will play Lady Godiva on the white horse behind him. The crowds will LOVE it!

  38. Quilla says:

Hey! Over here! Take out these useless clowns, the I-Play-A-TV-Journalist and the Noun-Verb-9/11 guy!

  39. UncleBucky says:

John, crowds are people, my friend. :P

  40. UncleBucky says:

So, instead of by polls, we use guns to determine elections. Now, I understand…
