CBS’ Bob Schieffer grills Trump surrogate like a journalist should

In a wonderful example of true journalism, CBS’ Bob Schieffer grilled Trump surrogate, and Arkansas Attorney General, Leslie Rutledge yesterday about her false claim that most Americans don’t care about Trump’s tax returns.

In fact, over 74% over voters in a recent poll want to see the returns, including 62% of Republicans.

Schieffer was tenacious and amazing. She lied and he wouldn’t let it go. It was an amazing example of what good journalism is all about. CBS’ embed seems to be having some issues. If the video doesn’t show below, you can watch it here.

She’s a lying idiot. Pity not all of her audience is not as stupid as she wishes they were.

  2. Frank Lee says:

It is amazing what they can do when their GOP owners hate and fear the GOP candidate.

  3. willardcottrell says:

who the fuck was that idiot AG???

  4. ComradeRutherford says:

Remember back in the Olden Days when journalists actually called people out on their lies.

Today, ‘journalists’ help Republicans lie, and attack Democrats based on lies the Far-Right makes up…

  5. marknc says:

Actually I think Trump did say something specific about this. He said all of the Generals were picked by Obama and they all suck. HE will fire them all and pick REAL Generals that know how to fight.

  6. Demosthenes says:

Bob Schieffer would be ABC excellent debate host. Naturally the Vulgar Talking Yam™ wouldn’t agree.

  7. Houndentenor says:

If you haven’t, you should read his book. He’s had an interesting career and obviously he knows how to tell a story.

  8. Houndentenor says:

Lawyers get paid to lie. Their job is to defend their client and that has nothing to do with the truth.

  9. Houndentenor says:

Schieffer was a print journalist. He’s a real journalist and it shows. There aren’t many left like him. Turn on any cable news channel and see what passes for reporting these days.

  10. Fireblazes says:

Isn’t it against the Attorneys’ General code of ethics to lie? Or is that just ones from the Democratic Party?

  11. emjayay says:

So, Trump’s detailed plan to end ISIS is to spend even more on the military and end allowing refugees into the country. That doesn’t even make sense. Girl in red is apparently not some Fox News bimbo.

  12. Jon Erickson says:

She is simply claiming that her opinion is better than the facts! Bob Schieffer should always be associated with Edward R. Murrow. He is what they were thinking about when they wrote the Constitution and included freedom of the press. It is only with journalists like him will our country continue to be great. Bob, “Good night and good luck.”

  13. 2patricius2 says:

This is the Trump campaign. Smoke and mirrors and lies.

  14. woodroad34 says:

Not only did she lie, she tried to associate her ambiguous meetings with people and their so-called statements with a pollster’s collection of data (they take names and addresses). If pressed under oath, she couldn’t come up with one name that told her anything. And when you’re that adamant about your lying, you know Arkansas is in real trouble.
